Gone Fishing

I've been thinking we should add more fish to our diet. I Googled "fresh fish Novato" and the first thing that popped up was Western Boat and Tackle in San Rafael about ten miles south of us. I wanted a fish monger, not to catch them myself! Go figure, not only can you buy all the gear here you need to catch fish but also buy fish. There is a pristine selection of very fresh fish, crabs and shellfish. Also available are shrimp cocktail, clam chowder and crab sandwiches. On the weekends they have a cool barbecue rig set up out front for fixing up chicken, tri-tip and ribs.
Heed the crabby warning above the live crab tank!
I purchased some bass and steamed it with lemon, butter, white wine and sprinkle of fresh parsley at the end. April made a composed salad with vegetable drawer goodies making for a very fine dinner!
Good fishing!

I feel like I need a secret code to shop there, but... they want us!

Seafood is consumed all over the world; it provides the world's prime source of high-quality protein: 14–16% of the animal protein consumed world-wide; over one billion people rely on seafood as their primary source of animal protein. Fish is among the most common food allergens.

I'll have to check it out. Are these fish caught in the bay?

Cookiecrumb- I love it. I forgot to mention the cool dock out back with tables and umbrellas.
Barramundi - nice promo piece.
Zoomie- Dunno where the fish came from. They tasted good ;)I should have asked but the good old boys were giving me the look wondering why I was taking all them pictures.

Seafood is good for you because it is low in fat and high in protein. Most fish contain oils that are called omega-3. These oils can help prevent some diseases and treat certain types of illness. The eel is one type of seafood that contains a high fat content, but only a very few types of seafood contain fat.

Western is the unsung go-to fish place in Marin. I've always admired them for the quality they insist on.

Didn't know about the deck -- never hang around long (good ol' boys, you know).

kudzu- Hey! Thanks for coming by.It is a deck/dock. You can tie your boat up and run in for a fishing rod or fish fillet.

Fresh fish is a highly perishable food product, so it must be eaten promptly or discarded; it can be kept for only a short time. In many countries, fresh fish are filleted and displayed for sale on a bed of crushed ice or refrigerated.
