Grand Prinsess Alaska Cruise - Victoria B.C.

We greet the morning with breakfast as usual. Today we are in Victoria B.C. on our next to last day aboard The Grand Princess Alaska Cruise. There is a law that cruises that originate in the U.S. must port once outside of the country, hence our stop in Canada. I was not expecting much and the only research I did for Victoria was to lead us to a wharf side restaurant, made from old shipping containers, called Red Fish Blue Fish. I'd seen a segment on the Cooking Channel showing them specializing in poutine and I was ready for for my first taste. My plans went awry when I realized our time in port was short, and the restaurant opened just before we were to re-board the ship. No poutine for you sir!

The city of Victoria is absolutely beautiful! The clean streets and friendly people dazzled us. On two occasions people stopped and asked if we needed directions. I think I saved a bunch of money because most of the stores opened later. Avril fell in love with some shoes in the window of She-She shoes that would have felt right at home in her shoe collection. We made  the most of the day with lots of colorful photo ops. The garden at the Empress hotel was magnificent as was the view of the harbor. I think this would be a great place to visit in the future for a much longer time.

I want to visit Victoria again. I did many years ago, and it was fun.

Which shoes, the Minnie Mouse or the breakneck yellow sandals?

Zoomie- It was beautiful in May. There was so much to see and so little time.
cookiecrumb- Both! She loves color. Admittedly these are more beautiful than practical and way out of our pay grade.

I went to Victoria in the 70's as a young man and it was fun. I remember that there were a lot of strip clubs right off the tourist area. There was one women named Dawn that did the most amazing.... Maybe those are memories that I will share with you sometime.
