More Salad and a Pie

Homegrown Heirloom Tomato Salad and Asparagus Gruyere Pizza Pie
Last Friday's salad and pie night was particularly good. I concocted an heirloom tomato salad with beets and blue cheese. The best tasting tomato was a Brandywine Tomato. It was planted late in the season as a replacement for a plant that had been eaten by voles, so it is just now ripening. It sure is ugly, but tastes so good! Hopefully the warm weather holds so we can get some more ripe ones. The pizza pie made by Avril was exceptional! She topped her homemade pizza dough with garlic flavored oil, Gruyere-Swiss cheese blend and pencil thin asparagus. After the pie was sliced she sprinkled it with some dried oregano and Parmigiano-Reggiano. We drank some Savignon Blanc and toasted the weekend. Cheers to you!

What, no comments? April, your cheese pizza with slender spears of asparagus is BeauTiFul! Brilliant.
